hey there! thanks for stopping by my portfolio — hope you're having an awesome day you can also download my “wamp font” in the “more” section. want to say hi? shoot me an email: jcw.pep@gmail.com.

For this assignment, I was tasked with redesigning the logo for a periodical that evolves over time. The goal was to create a dynamic identity system—one that changes at defined intervals—while remaining visually cohesive and conceptually aligned with the publication’s theme. This evolution could be driven by time (daily, weekly), user interaction, or relevant data changes.

I chose Thrasher Magazine, an iconic publication centered on skateboarding culture, as the periodical for this project. My concept leverages a weather API to dynamically alter the logo’s form based on local weather conditions—reflecting how conducive the weather is for skateboarding.

Deliverables: a logo generator coded and functional, a desktop website mockup, mobile website mockup, 3 print mockups showing the logo on magazine or newspaper covers, a social media icon mockup, and a favicon version.

The logo’s warp effect varies depending on the weather.

When conditions are ideal for skating (mild temperature, dry weather), the bulge effect grows larger—signaling a perfect time to skate.

If the weather is unfavorable (rain, snow, extreme heat or cold), the logo remains static with no effect, indicating it’s not a good day to skate.

This approach creates an evolving visual narrative rooted in real-world data, making the logo a living symbol of the skateboarding lifestyle and its connection to the environment.
